A city of world-class status and supreme beauty, Chicago is located along the shores of vast Lake Michigan in the heart of the Midwest. Home to a multitude of attractions, events, world-championship sports teams, an internationally acclaimed symphony orchestra, renowned architecture, world-famous museums, lakefront parks, vibrant ethnic neighborhoods, and award-winning theater, you’ll never be bored!

The city is loosely divided into the North and South Sides, both providing an intriguing overview of different neighborhoods and lifestyles in the city, as well as housing all Chicago’s main attractions.

On the South Side, the Lakefront Trail by the Shedd Aquarium is the highlight, where the entire city vista can be enjoyed as a backdrop to Lake Michigan. Close by is Grant Park, the Adler Planetarium, Soldier Field and the impressive residential neighborhoods of Hyde Park and Kenwood. For those interested in modern American history, the South Side includes many of President Obama’s hangouts, such as his favorite pizza restaurant, book shop and barber!

On the North Side, Millennium Park - with its impressive outdoor modern sculptures - is simply stunning. The park hosts free family-friendly festivals and a variety of other programs throughout the year, making it one of Chicago’s most popular destinations.

Home to the famed Wrigley Building, the North Side also boasts the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago River, the Old Chicago Water Tower, the vast Lincoln Park, and the Magnificent Mile – home to Chicago’s most exclusive stores on Michigan Avenue.  Or, for those looking for a truly unique experience, step out onto The Ledge, where glass boxes extend out 4.3ft from the skyscraper’s Skydeck on the 103rd floor (or 1,353ft up) for a breathtaking view of the city.

Looking to explore a little further? No problem! Rent a bike at Navy Pier and cycle along the shores of Lake Michigan. Or join one of the city’s numerous walking tours to get up close and personal with its unique Art-Deco architecture. Further out, enjoy a trip along Lake Shore Drive to the university town of Evanston, admiring the lakefront mansions as they become increasingly spectacular.

Visit also the Baha’i House of Worship with its impressive white dome, which boasts lovely gardens and is well worth a look inside. Then, as you reach the smaller neighborhoods of Wilmette, Kenilworth and Winnetka, the stately homes will continue to impress. A short drive north from here and you will come to the Gurnee Mills Mall, home to around 200 outlet stores. Chicago also provides the perfect launching pad for a road trip up into spectacular Door County, Wisconsin.
